Lake Oahe. The bite on Oahe continues to pick up as the water warms. I have been mainly fishing in the Cheyenne River arm. Both live baiting and pulling crankbaits. I have been cranking up shallow in less than 15 foot and my best live bait bite depth has been 18 to 22 foot. Dont be afraid to go up shallow when the wind blows. Shallow mudlines hold a ton of fish when the wind blows. Bouncers, jigs, cranks... its all working now. The main lake bite is just starting to go and the next couple weeks are going to be on fire. I see everything up on Oahe... Walleyes, Smallmouth, Northern Pike, White Bass and even a few Crappie. The Fish look incredibly fat and healthy on Oahe right now. Its going to be an awesome summer.
Lake Sharpe. The Bite on Lake Sharpe has been good to great lately. Lots of Walleyes and Smallmouth Bass to be had from DeGray to Big Bend Dam. There is still a few fish being taken in the Pierre area but the bite is much better downstream. Everything is working here too. Bouncers, jigs, crankbaits... I have been pulling plugs in 6 to 12 foot and my best live bait bite has been around 9 to 12 foot. Channel edges and sunken humps and islands are holding alot of Walleyes right now. I am finding my Smallmouth up on shallow points and sand bars. The fish look really nice and there are a lot of 15+ inch Walleyes around right now.
