Oahe / Sharpe

Oahe's WORLD FAMOUS Pike fishery is on fire right now. The water temp on the main lake is going into the low 40's which is ideal for the spawn. Prime time for huge Oahe Pike. The next couple weeks are going to be the peak bite for trophy sized fish over 20 pounds.
I was guiding for Pike on Saturday and we had a stellar day with 8 pike total weighing in at just over 75 pounds. Our biggest Trophy Pike was just over 18 pounds. Awesome day to say the least. Fun! Please take a look at my pictures of this trip on my Dakota Walleye Guide Service Facebook page. Great string of Pike....
My best presentation lately has been a quick strike rig baited with the biggest Smelt that I can find fished on the bottom with an 1/8 to 1/4 oz split shot. There has been a fair to good bite going on pulling crankbaits for Pike but cold fronts slow that bite up a bit. Both pulling cranks and pitching spoons will take off when the water temps warm up a bit more.
Please give me a call or email if you want to take advantage of Lake Oahes world class Pike fishery. The best shot at scoring a 15 to 30 pound Trophy Northern Pike is going to be the next couple weeks. Once the giant female Pike spawn they disperse back out into the main lake. NOW is the time to fish for the Pike of a LIFETIME.
Sharpe continues to put out some really nice walleyes around the Pierre area. I have been fishing mainly from the Stilling Basin down to Ft. George. I love to pitch and drag jigs so that has been my main presention of choice but I have been catching some good fish by longlining crankbaits too. My best jig presentation has been in current breaks and channel edges in 10 to 20 foot. Light line and 1/8 to 1/4 oz jigs tipped with a minnow. Cranks in 10 to 12 foot along the sand bar edges and on the big flats downstream. The Walleye bite will EXPLODE when the water temps warm up a bit more. Good to fair bite all in all. Steady warm weather is all we need.
Thank you all,
