Lake Oahe continues to have a good bite going on. Lots of Walleyes, Smallmouth, Northern Pike and White Bass being caught right now. Everything is working... Jigs, Bouncers and Crankbaits. I have tried all 3 presentations in the past 3 days and we limited every day. Smaller fish up shallow, the bigger ones are starting to set up a little deeper and everything is like at 18 foot or less for me. Go shallow up into the mudlines when the wind blows and go deeper on the calm days. Both Minnows and Crawlers are working on my bouncer rigs, powerbait on the jigs. Its been a great week for me. The Smallmouth are big and really starting to come on and I got into some really nice 16 to 17 inch White Bass yesterday too. Its a super fun time on Oahe right now.... The fish are shallow and feeding heavily.
Lake Sharpe still has a lot of fish coming out of the lower end from Joe Creek to Big Bend Dam. Lots of smaller Walleyes but if you are patient you will come in with some nice Eyes. Channel edges and sunken islands for the Walleyes and hit the big flats and gravel points for Smallmouth. 12 to 25 foot deep for the walleyes and 4 to 12 for the Smallmouth. Bouncers, Jigs, Cranks... Both minnows and crawlers are working good. The best bite is on Lake Oahe.

Oahe continues to have a good bite in the Pierre area. I have been fishing from Agency to Sutton bay and I have been finding fish all through there. It has been a wind driven bite for me. My best luck comes when the wind blows and the fish roll up shallow. 6 to 12 foot deep on windswept points is my best pattern. Classic Oahe mudlines... Its an amazing bite when you find it. I have been using minnows and crawlers on plain hook rigs. Been more crawler lately... I have been pulling an occasional crankbait up shallow too. Walleyes and Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Catfish.... Everything is going now. Fun. The fish are moving out deeper as the water is warming up. There is a deeper livebait bite going on too. 16 to 25 foot. I have been working the shallow, more aggressive fish. Its going good.
The best bite has been from Joe Creek on down. Channel edges and sunken humps. Lots of smaller fish to go thru but the bigger fish are there. Just be patient and work your patterns. Bouncers and live bait. Both Plain hook rigs and spinners. 12 to 25 foot. Minnows and crawlers. Crankbaits up shallow for the Smallies. Key on the channel edges and big flats. Oahe is where its at... Its not even close.

Lake Oahe has a good bite going on right now. The water level is high and the fish are looking for warmer water right now. My best bite has been fairly shallow when the wind blows and deeper when its calmer. Good bite all in all. Try to stay in 15 or less when the wind blows. Don't be afraid to go shallow. We pitched jigs the other day and were getting them up as shallow as 2 foot. Classic Lake Oahe mudline bite now. I see huge pike, FAT walleyes, big Smallmouth and White Bass. The bite is set to explode with this warm weather we have been having. ALL fish I see now are super fat and healthy. Jigs, bouncers, crankbaits. Its all working. I like minnows for live bait right now. Fun!
Lake Sharpe is putting out a lot of Walleyes and Smallmouth Bass right now. You have to go thru a lot of 14 inchers though. There are a few fish being taken around Pierre but the main bite is from Joe Creek to Big Bend Dam. Bass up shallow in 14 or less and walleyes out on the channel edges out to 25 foot. When the wind blows the fish seem to be shallower here too. Its all working here too... Bouncers, jigs, crankbaits. Minnows and crawlers.

LAKE OAHE is really starting to go now. Walleyes, Northern, White Bass and Smallmouth are all being caught right now. Look for the warmest water you can find. The backs of major bays and the Cheyenne River is the ticket right now. There are 2 bites going on right now. A shallow 6 to 12 foot mudline bite and a deeper main point bite in 20 to 30 foot. Its all going now. Bouncers, Jigs, Crankbaits. Minnows are best for me but crawlers are working too. Pitch jigs up into the shallow mudlines and have a couple bouncers going as dead rods. The deeper bite is mainly on bouncers. Heavier the better there. The bite is just starting to go good and with the warmer weather forcasted for this week I look for the bite to only get better and better. Fun!
LAKE SHARPE has a good to great bite going on too. Walleyes and Smallmouth there. The muddy water from the Bad River has finally made it to around West Bend. The stained water has really made that bite go. My best bite has been on channel edges in 7 to 12 foot. Some days out to 25. There is some Smallies going up shallow and the Walleyes are on the drop offs and channel edges. Jigs, bouncers, crankbaits. Its all going here too. More fun!
